The Trees and Landscape Team - Development Management

Who we are and what we do

Our Trees and Landscape Team is part of Development Management, Policy & Partnerships,  and are responsible for:

  • The advice and management of trees on council land

  • Tree Preservation Orders - TPOs and Conservation Area Legislation regarding trees

  • Acting as advisors to Development Management and Policy Planners where development proposals are likely to impact on publicly significant and/or protected trees and the wider landscape

  • Hedgerows Regulations and complaints made under the High Hedges Legislation regarding 'nuisance hedges'

For enquiries on protected trees and requests to undertake work to council-owned trees on the highway, schools and public-open spaces, please call the Trees and Landscape Team on 0118 9746464 or 974 6767 or email: treesandlandscape@wokingham.gov.uk

If you are a Council tenant and the tree(s) is/are on your property, please call Tenant Services (via Wokingham Direct) on 0118 9746000 or email: housing@wokingham.gov.uk

If the tree(s) are situated on private land and causing an obstruction or danger to pedestrians or vehicles using the public highway, please call our Highways Team (via Wokingham Direct) on 0118 9746000 or email: highwayoperations@wokingham.gov.uk

If the tree(s) are situated within a Council-owned country park, nature reserve, public right of way (or byway) please contact the Countryside Service on 0118 9342016 or email: countryside@wokingham.gov.uk

Dangerous Trees

For any emergencies relating to council-owned trees, call the Trees and Landscape Team direct on 0118 9746464/9746767. Our out-of-hours telephone number for emergencies is: 0800 212 111.

The Council is not responsible for making safe privately-owned trees within residents' properties and gardens. If you require urgent service to make safe a dangerous privately-owned tree, please contact a local tree contractor  

For specific problems relating to privately-owned trees

The Tree Advice Trust provide a Tree Helpline on 09065 161 147. This premium rate costs £1.50 per minute with average calls lasting 3 minutes.

This gives direct access to an experienced arboriculturist. You can use this service for quick answers to difficult tree problems.
