Free bus passes for disabled people

Changes to concessionary bus pass usage from 1 April 2017

With effect from 1 April 2017 our concessionary bus passes may no longer be accepted if starting your journey outside Wokingham Borough before 9.30am, Monday to Friday. You will need to check by contacting the relevant local authority.

Concessionary passes for pensioners will no longer be valid on football or rugby services where the journey starts outside Wokingham Borough.

You can get a disabled person's bus pass if you live in Wokingham borough and are:

  • Blind or partially sighted
  • Profoundly or severely deaf
  • Without speech
  • Have a disability or injury that has a long-term affect on your ability to walk
  • Have no arms or can't use both your arms
  • Have a learning disability including a big impairment to intelligence or social function

The minimum age to apply for a disabled person's bus pass is 5 years.

If you come to our offices to apply you won't receive your bus pass straight away.

Free national off-peak bus pass

You can use your free bus pass on:

  • Any registered local bus service in England
  • From 9.30am to 11pm Monday to Friday
  • All day at weekends and bank holidays

Our bus pass

In addition you can use our bus pass on:

  • Any local bus service in Wokingham borough between 9am and 9.30am Monday to Friday
  • Our park and ride services - at Winnersh park and ride. You will need to buy a parking ticket, available from the bus driver.

You can apply for a companion travel pass if you care for a disabled person who can't travel alone. 

The companion travel pass allows 1 carer to travel for free at the same time as the disabled person.
