WOKINGHAM BOROUGH COUNCIL (A321 BROADWATER LANE, TAPE LANE, HURST) (PROHIBITION OF WAITING) ORDER 2016
On 14th June 2016, the Executive Member for Highways and Planning agreed to advertise and consult on a proposal to implement no waiting at any time restrictions (double yellow lines) at the junction of A321 Broadwater Lane and Tape Lane.
Wokingham Borough Council was contacted by local residents and ward member following concerns regarding vehicles parked near or opposite the junction of A321 Broadwater Lane and Tape Lane.
The Highway Code states that motorists should not park within 10 metres of a junction as they may cause an obstruction to visibility and traffic movement. This offence can be enforced by the police irrespective of parking restrictions being in place; however this does require a police presence to enforce, which can be resource demanding.
It was therefore agreed with the police to introduce parking restrictions (double yellow lines) around the junction. It is anticipated that the visual presence of parking restrictions will act as a deterrent and keep the junction area clear. The proposal is illustrated on the attached Drawing no. 5049-2152

- Statement of Reasons

Box 153, Shute End, Wokingham, Berkshire, RG40 1WL or by email to email@example.com . All comments must be received by the 18th August 2016.
