Local Council Tax Reduction Scheme 2019 / 2020
What is the Local Council Tax Reduction Scheme?
Since 1 April 2013, local authorities in England have been responsible for running their own local schemes to help people pay their council tax.
The Local Council Tax Reduction Scheme helps working-age people on low incomes with paying their council tax, by reducing the amount they have to pay.
The amount of Local Council Tax Reduction is based on individual personal circumstances of the claimant and anyone else living in their household.
Who do we need to hear from?
Individuals who live in the Borough
Organisations that operate in the Borough
Why are we asking you for this information?
The Council has to balance how much it spends on the scheme against how much it spends on other services. The Council has therefore decided to review its Local Council Tax Reduction Scheme.
Local people are being asked for their views on Wokingham Borough Council’s proposals for its new Council Tax Reduction Scheme which would operate from April 2019 onwards.
Any changes to the scheme will only affect working age households receiving
Council Tax Reduction now or in the future and will not affect pensioners (those in receipt of state pension).
What will we do with the information?
Any information provided will be anonymised so that you cannot be identified.
The information will be analysed and a report presented to the Council's Executive committee.
