The school revenue funding guidance 2018-19 is available and will be updated in December 2017.
The school block funding is now calculated using the Department for Education (DfE) published National Funding Formula (NFF) and given to local authorities in the soft years (when the Local Authority can set the budget) to allocate to Schools and Academies.
This consultation proposed by Wokingham Borough Council (WBC) and supported by the School Block Task and Finish Group aims to be open and transparent, WBC will collate your views for discussion and debate at the Task and Finish Group and will also present the results at the January Schools Forum.
The School Forum suggested and supported the establishment, in conjunction with WBC, of a Task and Finish Group (T&F) with representation on that Group of School’s Head Teachers and School’s Business Managers.
Throughout the whole of this document, rates and values are not set in stone; they are for illustration purposes only and are subject to change. We have not been notified of 2018/19 allocations by the DfE, this is anticipated in the week be on or after the 18th of December 2017 following collation of the October 2017 census data.
Indicative draft 2018-19 budgets are available on the school’s website, please use them with caution as they will be subject to change.
The local funding formula including the method, principles and rules adopted, is the responsibility of WBC to take the final decisions, however we value your input, hence why we have set up a School Block Task and Finish group with representative from both phases.
At December’s School Forum, the T&F models and outcome was discussed and welcomed by the School Forum.
The closing date (designed to fit into the DfE timescale) for your responses is Wednesday the 3rd of January 2018. Please note when returning your responses that we cannot change a factor purely because it has a detrimental impact on one school. We have to achieve an equitable balance which unfortunately will result in some schools “winning” and others “losing” as a result of a formula change.
