Borrow, renew and reserve items in our libraries

What's available

Our libraries offer a wide range of books and other materials including: 

  • Adult fiction and non-fiction books, including large print
  • Children’s fiction and non-fiction, including picture books, board books, large print and audio books
  • Free Internet access on library computers with printing available (additional charges for printing)
  • Free Wi-Fi with your library card
  • CDs, DVDs and audiobooks
  • Reference material - encyclopaedias, dictionaries
  • Newspapers and magazines
  • Graphic novels
  • Sets of books for book groups
  • Music scores and tutorials
  • Local and family history resources
  • Council and Community information 
  • Online reference materials
  • e-Books
  • e-Audio
  • e-Magazines

Every individual library member can borrow:

  • 15 books 
  • 6 cassettes or CDs
  • 6 DVDs 

Special arrangements are available for registered child-minders, nurseries and some other organised groups.

There is no charge for borrowing books if you renew or return them on time. We charge for some materials and services.

If your items are not required for a reservation they may be renewed up to four times.

You can renew in three different ways:

  • Go to our online library catalogue - log in to your account and renew online
  • Come into one of our libraries
  • Call the library - see the relevant library page for contact details

You will be asked for your library card number to renew your items.
