We offer free online access for library members to many major reference resources.

If you are using a library computer you will have automatic access, but if you access the site from home you will need to enter your library card number.

Fiction and non-fiction eBooks are available to library members from any Internet enabled device.

Encyclopaedia Britannica Online

We offer access to Encyclopaedia Britannica for all ages:

Special features includes video clips, world atlas, world statistical data and interactive timelines detailing historical events! For access to all Encyclopaedia Britannica resources from home, enter your library card number in the 'Card Number' box.

To access any Oxford Online resource from home, enter your library card number prefixed with 'wok' in the library card number / library barcode login box, e.g. wok##############.

Ancestry online

For family historians, Wokingham, Woodley and Lower Earley libraries offer onsite access to Ancestry, with census records and other historical data to help you trace your family tree. You must be at the library to access this website.

Find My Past

Learn about your past and yourself by accessing http://www.findmypast.co.uk, which offers access to births, deaths and marriage records, parish records collection, 1841 to 1911 census information, military records and migration records. You must be at the library to access this website.

KnowUK is the essential online reference tool available from within our libraries and at home using your library barcode number. KnowUK makes life easier by cutting out information overload and providing authoritative and current information. It provides over 100 regularly updated reference titles including Writers and Artists Yearbook, Debrett’s People of Today, The Good Food Guide and many Which? information guides.

UK Newsstand

Is an online news service developed to provide national and regional news, combining the most popular British newspaper titles in one database. Available from at home and within our libraries, UK Newsstand is the ideal tool to keep up-to-date with day-to-day information, looking through various established newspapers and magazines giving the user an array of views and opinions on one story line or subject.

Issues online

Issues online provides information on contemporary social issues such as drugs and alcohol, citizenship and global issues. The website is aimed at 14 to 18 year olds. It includes articles, news, key facts, lobby group links and much more. Issues online is available from any of our libraries and also from home, using your library card barcode number.

People's Network

The People's Network website offers online information relating to public libraries, culture and reading in the UK. The Enquire service provides a realtime enquiry service where you can talk or email someone who is trained to help you find the answers to your questions, 24 hours a day. The Discover service also provides information and web links to help you find the information you require for yourself. Or perhaps you would like some reading inspiration? Look no further than the People's Network Read service, which provides an opportunity to discuss what you have read online or to explore further reading ideas and online resources.
