Babies and toddlers

Rhymetime at Lower Earley Library

Children are never too young to enjoy using a library and even babies can be library members. We offer several activities designed to help children aged under-5 and their parents get the most from the library.

Rhymetime

These are monthly half-hour sessions for babies aged 0 to 18 months and their parents. Enjoy fun stories, songs and rhymes, sessions have also been shown to help babies develop an early love of language, rhymes and songs, which build a firm foundation for learning to read. Sessions are free but places must be booked by calling the library.

  • Wokingham Library rhymetime - First Tuesday of the month, 10.30am to 11am / 11.30am to 12 noon and Third Wednesday of the month, 10am to 10.30am and 11am to 11.30am

  • Woodley Library rhymetime - Second Tuesday of the month, 10am to 10.30am and 11am to 11.30am

  • Twyford Library rhymetime - Second Friday of the month, 10.30am to 11am

  • Lower Earley Library rhymetime - Third Tuesday of the month, 10.30am to 11am / 11.30am to 12 noon and First Friday of the month, 10.30am to 11am

     
  • Spencers Wood Library rhymetime - Third Thursday of the month, 2.30pm to 3pm

 

Dads can join in too, with our Saturday morning dad and baby rhymetime session. Sessions are free but places must be booked by calling the library.

Storytimes

Fun stories and rhymes for under-5s and parents to share together. Each session includes a craft or colouring activity. Sessions are free and there is no need to book - just drop in.

Spencers Wood Library - Every Monday, 4pm to 4.30pm 

Wargrave Library - Every Monday, 4pm to 4.30pm 

Wokingham Library - Every Tuesday, 2.15pm to 2.45pm

Woodley Library - Every Tuesday, 4pm to 4.30pm

Lower Earley Library - Every Thursday, 2.30pm to 3pm

Finchampstead Library - Every Friday, 10.45am to 11.15am

Winnersh Library - First Wednesday of the month, 10.15am to 10.45am

Toddletime

Action songs, music, rhymes and stories for toddlers 12 months to 36 months old.

Sessions are free but places must be booked by calling the library.

  • Wokingham Library - Second Thursday of the month, 10.30am to 11am

     

Children's Centre Sessions

Wokingham Borough's Children's Centre Family Workers come into Wokingham Borough Libraries each month to talk to families about the activities that are on offer.

Lower Earely Library First Friday of the month 11am to 11.30am

Twyford Library Second Friday of the month 11am to 11.30am

Wokingham Library Third Wednesday of the month 10.30am to 11am

Spencers Wood Library Third Thursday of the month 3pm to 3.30pm

Wargrave Library Fourth Monday of the month 3pm to 4pm

Bookstart

Bookstart is a national programme that encourages all parents and carers to enjoy books with children from as early an age as possible. Bookstart aims to provide a free pack of books to every baby in the UK, to inspire, stimulate and create a love of reading that will give children a flying start in life.
