Online reference

We offer free online access for library members to many major reference resources.

If you are using a library computer you will have automatic access, but if you access the site from home you will need to enter your library card number.

Oxford Online provides access to a variety of reference resources: 

 

To access any Oxford Online resource from home, enter your library card number prefixed with 'wok' in the library card number / library barcode login box, e.g. wok##############.

Ancestry online

For family historians, Wokingham, Woodley and Lower Earley libraries offer onsite access to Ancestry, with census records and other historical data to help you trace your family tree. Please note, you must be at the library to access this website.

People's Network

The People's Network website offers online information relating to public libraries, culture and reading in the UK. The Enquire service provides a realtime enquiry service where you can talk or email someone who is trained to help you find the answers to your questions, 24 hours a day. The Discover service also provides information and web links to help you find the information you require for yourself. Or perhaps you would like some reading inspiration? Look no further than the People's Network Read service, which provides an opportunity to discuss what you have read online or to explore further reading ideas and online resources.

Statesman's Yearbook

The Statesman's Yearbook provides a political, economic and social account of every country in the world, together with facts and analysis. You must be at the library to access this website.

Issues online

Issues online provides information on contemporary social issues such as drugs and alcohol, citizenship and global issues. The website is aimed at 14 to 18 year olds. It includes articles, news, key facts, lobby group links and much more. Issues online is available from any of our libraries and also from home, using your library card barcode number.
