Care Ambassadors

Care Ambassadors are social care professionals who give encouragement, advice, information and most importantly inspiration to people to choose a career in social care.

Care Ambassadors are qualified and experienced social care professionals throughout the sector from our local workforce. They offer guidance and advice about working in social care to schools, colleges and adult learners through eye opening and interactive sessions.

Being a Care Ambassador can be an important development opportunity for the individual too - to ensure that they are able to guide others through important career decisions, Care Ambassadors receive training on presentation and assertiveness before they start in their role.

In Berkshire, the Care Ambassadors have been up and running since 2007, led by a steering group comprising the unitary authorities and a number of private, voluntary and independent sector partners.

The scheme is supported nationally by Skills for Care. Locally Wokingham, Reading and West Berkshire Unitary Authorities and Aim Higher South East have all contributed funding to the development of the scheme.

The Care Ambassadors continue to attend events including talks to school and college students, and adults returning to work, careers fairs and conferences.

If you work in social care and you, a colleague, or a member of your team would like to find out more about being a Care Ambassador please email care.ambassadors@bracknell.ac.uk for further details.
