Tenant Services Authority

What is the Tenant Services Authority?

The Tenant Services Authority was created in April 2010 and is the current regulator for all Landlords in England. Their role is to work with landlords and tenants to improve the standards of service tenants receive and monitor the performance of all landlords. This ensures that all tenants receive a quality service, and seeks to give tenants the power to contribute to the way services are delivered.

National standards

To help improve the services tenants receive, the Tenant Services Authority has developed 5 national standards which Local Authorities must meet.  These were developed following the National Conversation in 2009, which Wokingham Borough Council tenants took part in.

The 5 national standards are

  • Tenant involvement and customer care
  • Home – maintaining your home
  • Neighbourhood and community – looking after your neighbourhood and communal areas
  • Tenancy – allocating and managing homes
  • Value for money
