How do I pay my rent?

You can pay rent:

  • Using our online payment system

  • By phoning 0845 303 9485

  • By standing order

  • At the Shute End cash office

  • At a Post Office

 

Payment by direct debit is not currently possible. 

 

Do I have to come to Court for the Possession Hearing?

It is highly recommended that you attend any court hearings. 

 

When is the next rent free week?

The rent free weeks have stopped. The final rent free week was 30 March 2009. After this the rent will be charged at 52 weeks per year.

 

How do I stop my eviction taking place?

The only way to stop an eviction taking place is to pay the rent arrears off in full. The balance of your account must be cleared by the morning of the eviction date. The payment must be made using cleared funds such as cash - cheques will not be accepted if they have not cleared by the eviction date.

 

If I pay the arrears will you move me?

We will be able to consider your housing needs if you clear the arrears.

 

Why do you keep sending me rent arrears letters as I always pay at the end of the month?

If you are paying monthly rent is due in advance on the first of each month. You may be sent letters if you are not paying in line with this requirement.

 

Why did you charge me rent on my old property after I had left?

Rent is usually charged after a tenant has left the property because there may have been a delay in the keys being returned or because the notice had to expire.

 

Why have you taken me to Court?

We only take tenants to Court if they are in rent arrears and after various other actions have not worked.

 

As tenants, if my parents die, will the rent still be charged?

Yes, rent is charged until the keys are returned to Tenant Services.

 

If they are in receipt of Housing Benefit, will this continue?

Under Housing Benefit Legislation, HB stops the Monday following date of death, and rent will be charged in full.
