Drug Action Team logo

The Wokingham Drug Action Team - DAT - was formed to co-ordinate the work of local agencies on drug misuse. The 1998 National Drug Strategy - and 2002 Update 'Tackling Drugs to Build a Better Britain - set the framework to reduce the harm that drugs cause to society - communities, individuals and their families. The 2008 Drug Strategy 'Drugs: Protecting Families and Communities' identifies four new central themes:

  • Protecting communities through robust enforcement to tackle drug supply, drug-related crime and anti-social behaviour

  • Preventing harm to children, young people and families affected by drug misuse

  • Delivering new approaches to drug treatment and social re-integration

  • Public information campaigns, communications and community engagement

The following pages will provide you with local information and services that are supporting these national aims.
