Home care services
We arrange and pay for places from private and voluntary providers in the area as well as providing some home care ourselves.
What does home care involve?
Home care supports vulnerable people in their own homes by providing personal care and practical support either temporarily or permanently, anywhere in the borough. Home care staff work with families, carers and other professionals in arranging services.
Every day support
The services are provided between 7am and 10pm, 7 days a week.
Access to these services is through Wokingham Community Care Services.
Who can benefit from home care?
The people who currently use these services are:
- Older people
- People with mental health problems
- Children and their families
What you can expect from our home care service
While you are receiving home care services, we will ensure that:
- When a home care is arranged, you will be visited to talk about the details and what you can expect
- You will be contacted about any potential changes in your service before they occur
- You will have a named person to contact
- Staff will be trained in providing personal care and practical support
- Complaints will be responded to within 5 working days and a plan of what can be done to put things right will be given to you
- Annual quality assurance visits will be made to maintain standards and improve services
Standards are monitored through the National Domiciliary Care Standards and Wokingham Borough Council contracting arrangements.
Foot Care Service
We also offer a Foot Care Service in collaboration with Berkshire West National Health Service. Launched in early 2008, the 'paid-for' service provides basic foot care including: toe nail cutting, bathing of feet and cream application.
