Strategy for older people's housing
Our strategy for achieving a future pattern of accommodation and related services for older people in Wokingham is grounded on more than a consideration of bricks and mortar, or statistics and costs.
It grows out of a set of values that underpin our approach to making provision for the needs of our older residents and recognition that old age has the potential to be a time of growth and development, rather than one of passive decline.
The specialised accommodation provided, and the services offered to older people living in general housing, should enable independence and choice.
We are also exploring the idea of enhanced and extra care housing, offering not only the possibility of supporting higher levels of dependency but also to provide an environment for a lively and active old age.
