A registered charity in its own right, Growing Places uses horticulture to meet the needs of around 50 people each week.
A wide range of activities are followed including:
- Production of summer bedding
- Growing perennials
- Growing herbs
- Growing vegetables and native wildflowers
- Conservation tasks
- Creating seasonal decorations, crafts and greetings cards
- Visits to places like Wisley RHS Gardens and other projects
Growing Places also has strong links with Addington School, Woodley, whose pupils come to us to learn gardening skills from our own gardeners. This collaboration was recently televised on BBC South.
Growing Places Berkshire is affiliated to THRIVE - the national charity for theraputic horticulture.
We would like to thank Mr Bob West who enabled the Project to start on the Hampshire site, as well as The Stratfield Saye Estate who kindly allow us the continuing use of the land.
