Local Loo Scheme Toilets - Accessibility

All public toilets are now closed as Wokingham Borough Council has now initiated the Local Loo Scheme .

Accessible toilets within businesses joining the scheme may or may not require the use of a National Key Scheme key - also known as a RADAR key 

Not all businesses joining the scheme have an accessible WC built to current Building Regulations specifications, please see below for a brief description of each one

 In Wokingham Town Centre, visitors and residents can use:

  • The Red Lion, Denmark Street - steps at entrance, portable ramp may be available, no call bell, basic small WC.

  • The Broad Street Tavern, Broad Street - reasonable accessible WC - RH transfer, access from street to WC may be difficult for some wheelchair users, likely to need assistance.

  • Wokingham Borough Council civic offices, Shute End - level entrance, automatic doors, good accessible WC - RH transfer

  • Wokingham Library, Denmark Street - level entrance, automatic doors, good accessible WC - RH transfer.

  • Alexandra Court - old public accessible WC now sponsored by The Brown Bag cafe - RH transfer, RADAR key.

  • Max’s Coffee Bean Delicatessen, Peach Street - level entrance, clear, wide route to back of room, small WC, not wheelchair acccessible.

 

 In Twyford visitors and residents can use:

Sebastians Cafe - step at entrance, route to WC through food prep area, flight of steep stairs, one handrail on left going up only.

Amins Restaurant - This Local Loo is now unavailable due to closure of the restaurant.

In Woodley Town Centre residents and visitors can use:

  • Costa Coffee in the Precinct - level entrance, route may be congested, tables near door of WC, reasonable accessible WC.

  • The Oakwood Centre, Headley Road - level entrance, automatic doors, One accessible WC - RH, one accessible WC- LH  Both WC's built to 1999 Building Regulations so smaller than ones built now.

  • Cafe Pandilla in the Precinct - level entrance, narrow route due to seats and tables, not disabled/wheelchair friendly.

  • Woodley Library  Brand new larger than standard accessible WC - LH, level access, automatic outer door to lobby, WC door RADAR locked, key available with librarians.

 

In Wargrave residents and visitors can use

  • The Bull Hotel, High Street - narrow stepped entrance, step inside bar area.

  • The St George and Dragon, High Street - 3 disabled parking bays, ramped level entrance, clear route to good accessible WC, friendly helpful staff.

 

There are also wheelchair accessible facilities located in the following Council buildings: 

  • California Country Park, Information Centre, Nine Mile Ride - ground floor - LH.

  • Dinton Pastures Cafe, Dinton Pastures, Davis Street, Winnersh - ground floor - RH.

  • Professional Development Centre, Reading Rd - ground floor - LH.

  • Spencers Wood Library, Basingstoke Road, Spencers Wood - ground floor - LH.

  • The Old Forge, Peach Street - 2nd floor - RH.

  • Waterford House, Erfstadt Court, off Denmark Street - 2nd floor - LH.

  • Winnersh Library, Robin Hood Lane, Winnersh - ground floor - RH.

 

In addition

  • Waitrose Wokingham and Waitrose Twyford - accessible WC for disabled customers.
