What hours can I work?

Once you know what work you can do, you need to be aware of the hours you can work.
 
On school days:
 
Either:
 
  • 1 hour between 7am and 8.30am plus 1 hour between close of school and 7pm
Or
  • 2 hours between the close of school and 7pm
 
On Saturdays and holidays:
 
Aged 13 and 14 years:
 
  • 5 hours between 7am and 7pm
  • Maximum of 25 hours a week
 
Aged 15 and 16 years:
 
  • 8 hours between 7am and 7pm
  • Maximum of 35 hours a week
 
On Sundays:
 
  • Maximum of 2 hours between 7am and 7pm
 
Holidays and breaks:
 
Your employer must allow you to have:
 
  •  2 consecutive weeks free from work during the school holidays each year. This does not have to be paid holiday
  • A 1-hour break after 4 hours continuous work
