Duke of Edinburgh's Award

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a challenging programme of activities which will help you to learn new skills, help others and experience adventure. What's more, it's prestigious and valued by organisations such as employers and universities.

What does it involve?

There are 3 levels of Award:

  1. Bronze

  2. Silver and

  3. Gold

For each level you complete activities in 4 sections:

  • Service

  • Expedition

  • Skills and

  • Physical Recreation

 

At the Gold level you also take part in a Residential Project.

Who is it for?

The Award is open to anyone between the ages of 14 and 25 years of age whatever their abilities and experience. Special qualifications are not required, just a willingness to have a go.

On successful completion, you will be presented with a badge and certificate and at Gold level you are invited to a presentation Ceremony at one of the Royal Palaces.

How long will it take?

You will have until your 25th birthday to complete any of the Awards, but it takes:

  • At least 6 months at Bronze
  • At least 12 months at Silver
  • At least 18 months at Gold
