PlayBuilder - Play area improvements

Young people aged between 8 and 13 from Wokingham Borough  are now benefitting from 11 challenging and exciting improved play parks with elements of natural play, thanks to a government Playbuilder grant. The sites selected have each been improved after consultation with young people, schools, residents and community groups.

The sites have been improved in accordance with the criteria set out by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and Play England.

Play parks that have benefitted from refurbishment:

  • Gorse Ride, Finchampstead
  • Woodford Park, Woodley
  • Sol Joel Park, Earley
  • Arborfield Recreation Ground, Arborfield
  • Pinewood, Wokingham Without
  • Twyford Recreation Ground, Twyford
  • Swallowfield Recreation Ground, Swallowfield
  • Wargrave Open Space, Wargrave
  • School Road, Hurst
  • Sonning Recreation Ground, Sonning
  • Woosehill Meadows, Wokingham

 

Due to withdrawal of government funding, plans to refurbish the following play areas will unfortunately no longer take place:

  • Ashenbury Park, Woodley
  • Chalfont Park, Earley
  • Vauxhall Park, Woodley
  • The Junipers, Barkham
  • Dinton Pastures, Hurst
  • California Country Park, Finchampstead
  • Cantley Park, Wokingham                                 
  • Laurel Park, Earley
  • Park Lane, Charvil
  • Ashridge Road, Wokingham
  • Spencers Wood Recreation Ground, Shinfield
