Who can foster?

Children come from different ethnic and religious groups and some have a mixed heritage. We actively promote diversity and welcome applications from all sections of the community so we can ensure we have foster placements to meet our diverse needs.

You must be:

  • Aged over 18 (although we prefer carers to be over 21)
  • Have a spare bedroom
  • Live in a non-smoking household

Apart from that, you could be:

  • Be from any racial, cultural or religious background
  • Living in your own home or renting
  • Be single, married, or cohabiting
  • Heterosexual, gay or lesbian
  • Have children or be childless
  • Be in employment or not

Overall it is important that you are available to meet the responsibilities, such as taking the child to school and appointments. The qualities you will need are compassion, understanding, energy, patience, tolerance and just enjoy being with children.
