Crossroads Caring for Carers is a national organisation with a local group running in Wokingham.
It provides support workers to help families caring for disabled people of all ages and disabilities. It aims to a give reliable, tailored service for each carer and the person they care for.
Every scheme provides practical support where and when it is most needed - usually in the home. A trained Carer Support Worker takes over from the carer to give them 'time to be themselves'. The Workers talk to the carers about how often they would like to be visited, how long the visit should be and at what time they would like support provided. They then have this time to use the Workers as they wish - to see friends, keep appointments, study, read or even just to sleep.
Wokingham Crossroads can provide short break care for disabled children and their families. Contact them directly to request an assessment for services.
