At the Council, we are treating the redevelopment the Town Centre as a top priority. We want to create the right kind of town for local residents, workers and visitors. In order to achieve this, we are working closely with members of the public to create a clear vision for the future of Wokingham.
To make sure the right decisions are made in the future we are using our roles as both a Planning Authority and as a major landowner in the Town Centre.
Role as a Planning Authority
As the Planning Authority we are working with local people to create a Town Centre Master plan. The master plan will be adopted as a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD). Information about the master plan is available on the Town Centre Master Plan page.
Role as a Local Landowner
We own several areas of land in the Town Centre and we are using several of these, along with some privately owned sites, to help regenerate the town. We are currently working with three carefully selected developers to create a scheme that meets the local vision for the Town Centre. More information as to the progress on this process is available on the Town Centre Regeneration Project page.
