Planning Policy
The Wokingham District Local Plan sets out planning policies and allocations of land for development up to 2006. This means that the plan is a kind of "blueprint" for the district, setting out where different types of development, from housing to shops and offices, can be built during the period it covers and areas where development will be resisted.
The Wokingham District Local Plan was Adopted by the Council on 11 March 2004 and is available on the Council's website. This includes an interactive version of the Local Plan Proposals Map.
If the interactive mapping system does not work on your computer read the guidance notes.
Please see the list on the left hand side of this window for access to topics relating to the Local Plan. The text and map of the Deposit Draft edition - 1997 - of the Local Plan is available on the Planning Portal.
The Department for Communities and Local Government produces a guide which explains the Local Plan process.
The Council on 25 May 2006 agreed the timetable for reviewing the Local Plan through a Local Development Framework.
