Consultation under Regulation 26 on the Alternatives for the Draft Core Strategy
The Council produces a land use plan (the Local Plan) for the district that says where buildings for different uses may be built. The Council now needs to produce a new plan to last to 2021. The replacement plan will be in the form of a Local Development Framework (LDF) as required by the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004. One of the documents in that framework will be the Core Strategy Development Plan Document.
The Core Strategy Development Plan Document (DPD) will broadly indicate how much and where development could take place in Wokingham District to 2021. It will therefore cover where everything from homes, shops, offices and factories to schools, community and leisure facilities. The Core Strategy has now reached a formal consultation stage in its production and the Council sort your views on The Alternatives for the Draft Core Strategy (ADCS) from 9 November to 21 December 2005.
The Alternatives for the Draft Core Strategy (ADCS) was produced following informal consultation by questionnaire in autumn 2004 and summer 2005 with statutory bodies, including town and parish councils, community groups, the citizens' panel, individuals who have asked to be placed on the Council's LDF database and the development industry. It has involved over 1,200 people, whose views have informed the production of the document. This earlier consultation was in line with Regulation 25 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004. Separate reports of these consultations have been produced these are available at www.wokingham.gov.uk/ldf-research. The reports of consultation include LPS3, LPS4 and LPS8.
The consultation on the ADCS closed at 5 p.m. on Wednesday 21 December 2005. The Council is now considering all representations submitted and is due to agree the submission version of the Core Strategy in Summer 2006.
The following documents also formed part of the consultation on the ADCS.
- “Analysis of the Alternatives for the Draft Core Strategy”
- Council’s Approved Scoping Report
- Initial Sustainability Appraisal of the Alternative Potential Policies for the Draft Core Strategy (Annexe A1 of the Scoping Report)
- Initial Sustainability Appraisal of the Potential Policies for the Draft Core Strategy (Annexe A2 of the Scoping Report).
The “Analysis of the Alternatives for the Draft Core Strategy” details how the Core Strategy has been informed by the views of the community, together with Government and Regional planning guidance. Copies of these documents are attached below.
One of the issues raised during the earlier consultations on the Core Strategy was the suitability of residential development on previously developed sites, especially gardens. The Council has made an assessment for the amount of residential development that could be accommodated on previously developed sites through the Urban Capacity Study 2006-21. As part of the consultation on the Alternatives for the Draft Core Strategy, the Council also sort views on the appropriateness of its assessment in the Urban Capacity Study by 5 pm on Wednesday 21 December 2005. A copy of the Urban Capacity Study is attached below. The link in the left hand window will open another window for looking at sites identified in the Urban Capacity Study. If the interactive mapping system does not work on your computer, you are advised to read the guidance notes regarding this service on the Council's website.
A copy of the final approach for Reviewing Settlement Boundaries and its accompanying Statement of Consultation are attached below.
