Environmental Action Plan
To monitor and maintain the Environmental Policy the areas of key importance have been defined in an Environmental Action Plan, that details activities, targets and progress.
Areas of key environmental performance include:
- Strategic planning and Policy development
- Sustainable Development
- Biodiversity
- Energy efficiency and renewable energy
- Energy use in council properties
- Procurement
- Environmental awareness and education
- Transport
- Waste management
- Contaminated land
- Air Quality
Developing the Action Plan involved a preliminary audit to identify which of our activities impact on the environment and what actions are underway or planned to minimise these impacts.
The Environmental Action Plan (available to download below) is a working document which is monitored and updated using a traffic light system to keep activities on track.
The Environmental Forum is an inter-departmental working group that meets on a quarterly basis to raise awareness of environmental issues, to facilitate an exchange of information and to ensure that the targets in the Environmental Policy and Action Plan are being met.
