Dog and Bone Text Alert Scheme

Silver award logo from RSPCA
RSPCA silver award logo
Our Animal Warden has set up a scheme to alert dog walkers when a dog has been reported as missing within the borough. The scheme works by a text message being sent.

Register your phone number

We are asking all dog walkers to register their name and mobile phone number so the scheme can start working immediately. All details will be kept confidential and texts will only be sent when a dog is registered as missing – approximately 5 a month.

Benefits of the scheme

As dog walkers are more likely to be out and about where a missing dog could be hiding, the scheme could see escaped dogs being returned safely to their owners much more quickly, reduce the risk of stray animals causing road traffic accidents and frightening nearby residents.

Stray dogs can also increase the amount of fouling in an area, so reuniting them with their owner as quickly as possible will help to reduce this risk.
