Information for teachers
The Countryside Service's schools programme offers active learning and exciting hands-on experiences which meet the needs of the National Curriculum, whilst stimulating positive attitudes towards the environment.
Ranger led activities
The most popular topics for study are ponds, minibeasts, flowers, rivers and orienteering. Each ranger-led visit includes a pre-visit, where you can plan exactly what you want from your trip. As part of our package we also set a challenge to our schools to see who can generate the least amount of rubbish from their lunch in our Waste Free Lunch Competition.
Teacher led visits
School groups are welcome to use Dinton Pastures without any involvement from the Countryside Service. If required you can hire equipment, borrow resources and hire a room. If you are planning a visit, please let the Countryside Service know as this helps keep track of how well the site is being used for education and avoids clashes between groups.
The Countryside Service together with The Professional Development Centre also run INSET courses at Dinton Pastures Country Park covering all areas of the curriculum i.e. Ponds and minibeasts, Understanding Fair Trade and Living Willow Structures.
