Scaffold and Hoarding Licenses

Licence to fix hoarding or scaffold or other structures on, over or adjacent to the highway

 

If you are going to carry out work in connection with a building adjacent to a street and need to provide a hoarding to separate the building from the street, you will need to obtain a licence to do so. You can apply for the licence from Building Control at Shute End. Depending on the circumstances, we may require you to provide and maintain a temporary footway outside the hoarding, and to light the hoarding during the hours of darkness.

 

If building works involve the erection of a scaffold situated on or over the highway, you will need to obtain a licence from us. Consideration needs to be given to the traffic management - including pedestrians -while the scaffolding is being erected and dismantled and also during the period that the scaffold is present on the highway.  When the scaffold is being erected or dismantled in Wokingham town centre it can only be done before 8 a.m. and after 7 p.m. Monday to Saturday or during normal hours on Sunday.
