About the Building Control Service

The Building Control team works with people commissioning construction work and builders to help them comply with regulations ensuring the health and safety of people in and around buildings. These regulations also cover energy conservation and access and facilities for disabled people.

It is our job to help and protect everyone by:

Giving assistance and advice.
Taking swift action when regulations are breached.
Prosecuting builders who consistently breach the building regulations.

We help you prepare to submit your building regulation application, giving free advice.
We check your application complies with the Building Regulations and give our initial comments within three weeks.
We will call to see your building work on the same day if your request is made before 10.00a.m.
