Our Countryside Service is run by our Place and Neighbourhood Services.

We are committed to promoting the awareness and enjoyment of the countryside and the improvement of its nature conservation values.

What we look after 

  • Over 327 hectares of countryside

  • 143 miles of public rights of way

  • 14 sites across the Borough, including:

    • 3 large Country Parks

    • 6 Local Nature Reserves

    • 2 Sites of Special Scientific Interest

 

We also promote

  • Education

  • Local community action and volunteering

  • Biodiversity

  • Access to the countryside

 

What we do 

  • Provide access to, and enjoyment of the countryside for all residents in the Wokingham Borough

  • Protect and enhance the biodiversity of the Borough's countryside through our Biodiversity Action Plan.

  • Involve the local community in all our work, from the management of sites, to supporting the protection of individual species.
