What is a teleclaim?
It is a new way of claiming Housing and Council Tax Benefit. It is quick, easy to use and helps us to process your benefit claim more quickly.
How does this work?
- When you contact us to make a claim, we will ask you a few questions to see if a teleclaim is suitable.
- Once we establish the claim is suitable, an appointment will be arranged with you to make your claim. When we call you back, you will need certain information ready to make the claim. The Benefits Officer will tell you what information we will need.
- Once we have taken your claim, we will arrange for a Visiting Officer to visit you. This is so that the application form can be signed and any documents we need to see, can be collected or verified.
- Should you choose not have a visit, we will arrange an appointment for you to come into the office, so the form can be signed and your documents verified.
If you provide all the information we asked you for, your claim will be assessed within 5 working days of receiving the information.
