Foreword from Chief Executive and Lead Member
“ Information and communication technology (ICT) is key to achieving the transformational change that Wokingham Borough Council is embarked upon. Public Sector and Local Authorities will come under continuing pressures financially over the coming years and it is imperative that we face that challenge by looking at the ways we best serve our customers and by ensuring that we are efficient and effective in the way we operate. The use of ICT is a key enabler to help deliver against these key objectives.
We have already changed some of our ICT systems but there will be further investment required to support a rapidly changing environment. In particular this involves us being able to work more effectively with partners such as the PCT which needs to be achieved through tighter control around security and governance. We also need to position ourselves better to enable our customers to interact with us through the use of technology.
The ICT strategy sets out a blueprint to 2015 of how we will respond to the challenges ahead and will serve as a means of informing the process for re-tender of our ICT services. The strategy set out below supports the Council’s vision and corporate responsibilities and demonstrates how we will continue to improve our services for the benefit of our customers within Wokingham Borough”
