Woodley and Lower Earley bus service to be improved

Improvements to bus services in Woodley and Earley will start from May 23.

Wokingham Borough Council and Reading Transport have worked together to provide a new timetable for the bus service in Woodley and Earley. As of May 23, there will be a new link between the centre of Woodley and ASDA in Lower Earley, as well as improved essential links within the Woodley area and to Reading town centre.

There are also increased frequencies to and from central Reading for residents in the Silverdale Road area of Lower Earley.

Matt Davey, head of technical services at Wokingham Borough Council, said: "This is good news for bus users in Woodley and Lower Earley. It ensures the continuation of high quality bus services and introduces changes to routes and the service provided, which is a result of feedback received in last summer’s bus user consultation."

Improvements to routes 13 and 14 will see them made simpler and more comprehensive while the revised 19 service will make it easier to be understood by customers. There will also be improved evening and Sunday services between Woodley and Reading.

Woodley residents will also be benefitting from the introduction of a £1 single fare for journeys within Woodley. This is designed to improve access to and from Woodley town centre’s shops and facilities for local people.

Full details of the routes, timetables and fares will be published in due course.
