That librarything at Wokingham Borough Libraries

Searching the web for a good read from Wokingham Borough’s libraries has got a lot easier and informative with the introduction of LibraryThing to the libraries’ online catalogue Spydus.

LibraryThingis an add-on to the catalogue that provides extra details about books available at the borough’s libraries and enables users to discover new titles they may like to read.

Users looking up a book they are interested in can also click on the related ‘tags’ which are associated with the book to find similar books within Wokingham libraries they might like to read, e.g. classics, literary criticism, fantasy, romance etc. Again, these books are all items which the library service has and clicking on the title will inform you which library has the book in stock.

There are also enhancements to the library book title information; customers can now viewthe jacket/cover images for all books, spoken word, CDs and DVDs as well as a wealth of additional information if you click on the images. This includes extra book jacket images, spoken word audio clips and DVD trailers.

Sarah Barrett, collection development officer, said: "This is an exciting new addition to our library catalogue and we are making the most of existing technology to offer our readers something to enhance their reading choices."

To access these new service customers can visit the online catalogue.
