The Loddon Bridge Park and Ride service has been making a considerable financial loss for the past few years and so it has had to be carefully looked at to ensure local taxpayers aren’t forced to prop up the service in the future.
From Monday October 26, 2009 changes will be made to park and ride fares - including the introduction of an off-peak fare system.
As of Monday October 26, 2009 fares are:
Monday to Friday from start of service to noon with return anytime:
- Adult return £4
- Child return £1.80
- Family of five return (max three adults) after 9.30am and before noon £6.50
Off peak fares
Monday to Friday from noon, Saturdays and after 9.30am on weekdays in school holidays:
- Adult return £3
- Child return £1.50
- Family of five return (max three adults) £5
For use at anytime:
- Fastsaver 12 for six return trips £21
- Fastsaver 26 for 13 return trips £45.50
- Fastsaver 40 for 20 return trips £69.95
These can be purchased at the Travel Centre, Broad Street Mall between 9am and 5.30pm Monday to Saturday.
The concessionary travel pass continue as usual.
Please note, tickets can no longer be paid for via the Paypoint system.
As part of a package of measures to safeguard the park and ride’s future the council considered other changes including changing the frequency of buses. However, buses will still run at eight to 10 minute intervals until it switches to a new 12 to 15 minute service in January 2010.
