To reinforce its commitment to recycling,Wokingham Borough Council has developed a recycling wheel to help residents find the easiest and most convenient way to recycle.
The items on the wheel range from aerosols to ink cartridges and, by turning the central dial of the wheel, it explains whether you can recycling the item at the retailer from whom it was purchased, at a local or household waste recycling centre, local charity shop or via the kerbside recycling scheme.
On Thursday May 19, executive member for environment Cllr Gary Cowan and waste and recycling manager Peter Baveystock visited Emmbrook Infants School to demonstrate to the children how easy the recycling wheel is to use and how it can persuade people to recycle more.
The wheels have been circulated to all town and parish councils, community and environmental groups and schools across the Wokingham Borough.
Waste and recycling manager Peter Baveystock said: "This is an easy way to find out where over 30 types of material can be taken for recycling and I hope they help to encourage recycling and reduce landfill which is our priority. I hope residents of all ages will find the wheels useful and that we can get them to as wide an audience as possible."
If any individual or group would like some of the wheels then they can call (0118) 974 6000 or email: wokinghamdirect@wokingham.gov.uk
