Special guest at Wokingham Town Children's Centre

Peppa Pig was the special guest at Wokingham Town Children’s Centre open day last month (October 31) where local families and children joined staff and organisations who provide additional services at the centre.

The centre ran five, hour-long taster sessions showcasing what it has to offer with Peppa joining in for photo sessions with every child who wanted their picture taken.

Jane Wood, Wokingham Town Children’s Centre manager, said: "I was delighted with the excitement and fun Peppa generated, not just for the children but parents and staff. It was an extremely worthwhile day with many new families becoming members of the centre and finding out the support we can provide to them and their children."

The new mobile children’s centre was also there for children to play in whilst parents and carers could chat to family workers about the new service available across the borough.

Jane added: "Listening to people at events like this helps us to get a clearer picture of the needs of our local families, so that we can create programmes that work for them. Just two of the new ventures at Wokingham Town Children’s Centre are the Early Bird programme for parents and their children diagnosed with autism and a Talking Therapies Well Being programme, supporting mums with post natal depression. We will use what we learn from this event to help us plan our future sessions both at the centre and in the community."

The Bookstart bear will also coming to the centre in January 2012.
