Key Stage 2 provisional results continue to be above the national average

Primary school children in Wokingham Borough continue to achieve some of the highest results in the country according to Key Stage 2 results published yesterday (August 2).

Provisional results published by the Department for Education (DfE), show that Wokingham Borough pupils have once again excelled. In both English and maths at level four (the expected level for 11-year-olds taking the tests), Wokingham is ranked fifth in the country, and for overall combined achievement Wokingham is ranked seventh.

Many of the borough’s pupils also achieved level five, which is higher than the expected level. For this measure, Wokingham continued to be ranked at fourth in English but rose to third for maths.

Cllr Rob Stanton, executive member for children’s services, said: "These results show some excellent performance in our primary schools. I am particularly pleased with the very high position we have now reached for pupils achieving level five in English and maths, which is above the expected levels.

"I would like to congratulate the pupils on their achievements, and thank Wokingham Borough primary school teachers for all their hard work."
