People are being asked for their views on the latest in a series of documents designed to make sure future development in the Wokingham Borough is of a high quality.
The Managing Development Delivery Development Plan Document, which builds upon the borough’s adopted Core Strategy, will seek the community’s views on a series of issues includingdevelopment management policies on areas such as character and heritage, sustainable development, green routes and setting settlement boundaries (development limits) around the borough’s settlements and town and village centres. Comments are also invited on the criteria that should be applied when selecting sites, outside of strategic development locations (SDLs), to meet the borough’s housing requirement until 2026.
A list of all sites that have been put forward is also included, although sites will not be allocated at this stage.
To view all the documents please visit the draft options website page. Interested parties can respond online, by emailing: mdd@wokingham.gov.uk or by post to Land Use and Transport Team, Policy and Partnerships, Wokingham Borough Council, PO Box 157, Shute End, Wokingham, RG40 1WR. The consultation runs until midnight on July 27, 2011.
Comments received will help to develop draft policies and the appropriate criteria for allocating sites. The timetable proposes further consultation during the autumn, with an Examination in Public by an independent planning inspector in summer 2012.
Executive member for strategic highways and planning Cllr Angus Ross said: "We really want to make sure our detailed policies and guidance send the clear message that any development in the borough has to be of a high quality, well designed, fits in with the character of the area and is supported by the right type and level of infrastructure.
"This latest planning document is key to that and I would urge everyone with an interest in the future of the borough to have their say."
