Careers information fair shows ways into work

As the number of young people in the UK who are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) reaches one million, Wokingham Secondary Federation and Wokingham Business Skills and Enterprise Partnership, working with the Borough Council, have brought together some of the most significant employers in the region to offer advice and provide insights into work on Tuesday February 7 between 5pm and 8pm.

Held at the Civic Offices in Shute End, Wokingham, Wokingham Apprenticeship and Training Information Fair will offer young people and their parent an opportunity to find out about the massive range of apprenticeships available, as well as the many other alternatives to university. There will also be advice on how training ‘on the job’ works and is funded.

Andy Nicholls, Wokingham Borough Council’s economic development officer, said: "This is an opportunity for young people to meet with local employers and training providers. They will be able to find out about routes into employment and the type of skills and aptitudes needed for different job roles."

The Fair is free to everyone. Employers attending include Ernst & Young, John Lewis, Foster Wheeler, British Airways, British Gas and Cable & Wireless - to name just a few.  There is still the capacity for additional local employers to book a stall.
