How do I register to vote?
You can register by Rolling Registration from December to August. At other times you can register to vote by completing our Annual Canvass. You can download an electoral registration form from us, or from the aboutmyvote website, or ask us to send you a form. Forms are available to download in other languages. A letter of confirmation will be sent to you when you are added to the Rolling Registration register.
Overseas voters
To register as an Overseas Elector contact us for more information or see the Electoral Commission website for a fact sheet and the aboutmyvote website for downloadable forms. The first Overseas Registration must be made while abroad and have a witness declaration completed by a British Citizen who also lives overseas, giving the witness' address in that country. Overseas Electors may vote for 15 years from the last date they were on the electoral register in the UK. They must renew their registration annually.
Service voters
To register as a service voter download our service voter registration form, or go to the aboutmyvote website for downloadable forms. Service voters only renew their registration every 5 years, but need to inform us of any change of address each time they move. If Service voters are based in the UK and are unlikely to be posted overseas or change address for a year, they can instead register to vote as an 'ordinary' voter for 1 year by filling in the Annual Canvass form. Contact us if you are not sure whether to register as a Service voter or an 'ordinary' elector.
Students
Students may register at 2 different addresses when their term-time address is different to their holiday address, but they can only vote once in any particular election. See more student registration information at the aboutmyvote website.
