What is Twitter?

Twitter is a free internet site which enables friends, family, and co-workers to communicate and get simple news updates. It works by users answering one simple question: What are you doing? The reply is then available for everyone to see.

Twitter is free to use and can be accessed by visiting the Twitter website. To keep up to date with the council’s news feeds, or ‘tweets’ as they are known on the site, you should visit the Wokingham Borough Council Twitter page

Do I need to sign up?

You don’t have to sign up for a Twitter account to find out the council’s latest tweets, but if you do you will be given the option of ‘following’ the council, which will then ensure the council’s latest updates are sent straight to your account.

To sign up go to Twitter website and select the ‘Get Started’ option. You will need to then enter a valid email address, select a password and user name.

Once you’ve created your account enter WokinghamBC in the search box and then select the ‘follow’ option.

Twitter has an FAQ section on its website if you are having any difficulties or would like further information.

What will you put on Twitter?

We will use Twitter as an additional way of keeping our residents and visitors informed on the latest news and events. It will also feature information on any emergency situation – for example extreme weather like flooding or snow, and any impact this may have, like school closures, road closures or the closure of the Loddon Bridge Park and Ride.
