Why we consult

We are committed to providing services based on customer needs and expectations.

Consultation is a key means of finding out what needs, expectations and desires the local community has for the services we provide and how they should be accessed and delivered. We may consult with local people and groups for a number of reasons:

  • To monitor a current service provision and identify possible improvements

  • To gather opinions on a change in policy that may be implemented by the Council

  • To provide information to local stakeholders

  • A statutory requirement

Whatever the reason for carrying out consultations, it is important for the Council to find out the views of local stakeholders in order to shape current and future policies and service provision.

We are currently reviewing our Consultation Strategy, which outlines how it intends to carry out consultations, methods of consultation that may be utilised and the communication of results to stakeholders.
