Canvass forms will be posted out from 1 August
From 1 August 2018, every household in the Borough will be sent a household enquiry form. The form contains the details of those registered to vote and it is a legal requirement to respond to the form, even if you only need to confirm that all the details are correct.
We are required to send reminders and eventually canvassers to all non-responding properties, so please respond as soon as possible to avoid this and to help us keep our costs down.
How to respond if there are no changes to your household
If the details on the form are correct and you don’t need to make any changes you can
- Visit the Household Response website and enter the security code shown on the letter, or
- Call 0800 197 9871 and when prompted enter part 1 and part 2 of your security code, or
- Text NOCHANGE followed by both parts of your security code, leaving a space between each part, to 80212 (standard charges apply)
How to respond if you need to make changes
If anything is wrong or you need to make changes, visit the Household Response website and enter part 1 and part 2 of your security code. You will then be able to tell us about any changes.
If you are unable to use the online service you can complete the form and return it in the envelope provided.
How to add new people
Once you have responded to the household form, anyone new will need to register individually on the Gov.uk Register To Vote website. You'll need your national insurance number handy to complete the process.
If you can't use the online service we will send out paper registration forms.
As with the household forms, we are required to send reminders and canvassers if we do not receive a response to the individual registration forms so please respond as quickly as possible so this isn’t necessary.
