The meeting of the Executive on 26 June 2008 is due to consider a report concerning the submission of the Wokingham Borough Core Strategy.
Development blueprint for the Wokingham Borough
A blueprint for development for the next 20 years in the Wokingham Borough is set to come under the spotlight of the Council’s decision-making Executive later this month - Thursday 26 June.
Chief Executive Susan Law said: 'The Core Strategy is a vitally important document that will set out the future of the roads we will drive on, the homes we will live in, the schools our children will go to, the parks they will play in, the shops and doctors’ surgeries we will visit – in short, the way our communities are maintained or will be established in Wokingham Borough.'
'The Core Strategy is not only about housing - it covers the future of rural areas, education, economic development, transport, public open space, leisure and community facilities, affordable housing and much more. And it is the only way we have of controlling and influencing the future development of the Borough.'
Important note
There have been some changes in the detail of the Strategic Development Locations’ - SDLs - numbers since the
attached 4-page supplement went to press. The Executive will consider the following housing numbers at their meeting on 26 June:
South of Wokingham – 2,500 homes
North of Wokingham – 1,500 homes
South of M4 - Shinfield, Spencers Wood, Three Mile Cross – 2,500 homes
Arborfield Garrison – 3,500 homes
There will need to be provision for a small amount of housing development in other parts of the Borough. Some 1,000 homes over the whole 20-year period will need to be accommodated, the majority in existing settlements.
