History of Community Wardens

Safer Communities Logo
We started the Wokingham Community Warden scheme in February 2003 to cover the Norreys estate in Wokingham and Rainbow Park in Winnersh. At the outset there were only three team members, but this has now expanded to six full-time wardens.

As the scheme has expanded the wardens have extended their cover to the whole of Wokingham Borough. The wardens now work in pairs in designated neighborhoods to ensure they really get to know their communities.

Although they have to concentrate on the areas with more major problems, they regularly visit residents and attend to problems in all areas. You may have seen them out and about in their yellow and blue uniforms.
