The Local Area Agreement
Wokingham Borough’s new Local Area Agreement:
- Is a 3 year agreement between central government and the Wokingham Borough Strategic Partnership
- Runs from June 2008 until March 2011
- Sets out 17 key priorities for the Borough and provides evidence why each priority has been selected
The 17 priorities are:
- Sustaining economic prosperity
- Environmental sustainability
- Supporting culture
- Keeping the Borough moving
- Supporting the third sector
- Affordable housing
- Neighbourhood services / community facilities to meet community needs
- Reducing crime and anti-social behaviour
- Community empowerment
- Educational attainment
- Reducing health inequalities
- Reducing obesity
- Reducing the harm caused by alcohol
- Protecting children in care
- Supporting vulnerable children and their families
- Supporting and engaging our ageing population
- Housing needs for vulnerable groups
These priorities were developed through discussion and analysis of the needs and aspirations of those who live and work in the Borough
In the agreement there are performance targets to monitor progress towards our aim of improving the quality of life for residents for each priority. Progress will be monitored through the Wokingham Borough Strategic Partnership and published here.
