Community and Voluntary Sector Support: Children's Services

Children's Services are keen to work with Voluntary Organisations within Wokingham Borough.

We have limited funding to support work within the community but where it is available we actively support groups who contribute to the vision of putting the child at the heart of all we do. We deliver this through the Children and Young People's Plan. Find out more about:

See below for more information about specifically targeted funding opportunities available through Children’s Centres and Extended Services activities.

Children's Centres

Through Children's Centres, we support work with families of children aged under 5.

Centres deliver a range of services aimed at supporting parents and improving outcomes for all young children. Each centre has it's own local priorities to meet local needs and funding is be available to commission services from the voluntary sector to meet these needs - this is not grant funding.

Organisations interested in delivering a service as a partner in their local Children's Centre should complete an online Expression of Interest form or contact one of the Children's Centre Managers on 0118 908 8010 for an initial discussion.

Extended Services

Through the Extended Services initiative - in, around and through schools - newly developed Neighbourhood Partnership Boards are agreeing funding where groups are able to meet the identified needs of school-age children and their families in a particular neighbourhood.

Examples of work that has been supported varies from work with vulnerable families to activities for children and young people within the Borough.
