The community wardens currently run a Junior Warden scheme for up to 12 pupils per school each year at Gorse Ride, Bearwood and Lambs Lane primary schools.
About the scheme
The scheme introduces the young people to neighbourhood involvement in various ways – from interactive activities and litter picks to bike marking and talks from people who work in the community.
Junior wardens are encouraged to show respect for themselves, their community and their environment and to mastermind their own local projects. In the past, junior wardens have successfully championed a Saturday morning cinema for school pupils, a community garden, a carol service for older people, and charity fund-raising activities. They have also helped their adult counterparts at events such as community safety roadshows and anti-bullying workshops on an annual basis.
Our 2011 junior warden scheme is now in session; updates will follow.
